Art is, after all, only a trace – like a footprint which shows that one has walked bravely and in great happiness. (Robert Henri)

Robert Henri was a master painter who took art very seriously but also knew that a good painting is done in joy. He knew that painting joyfully requires bravery.

Here’s why:

FEAR

The fear of failure tries to steal the joy from the painting experience. It takes guts to say “Even if this painting doesn’t turn out right, I will enjoy the process and I will learn through the failure”.

NEGATIVITY

The negative mindset says “This is a waste of time and money”. But, it takes courage to paint in the confidence that you are refining your talents and becoming a better person through the process.

Once you do something brave, you will attract trolls who say mean things. I get the mean comments and they hurt. In spite of them, I continue to walk bravely and in great happiness. And my art shows it.
